Watch out for Fraud and Report Suspicious Activity
With the spring/summer time, pay added attention to anyone soliciting for lawn care or property maintennace that you do not know. This is the time of year porch plants go missing, as well as lawn equipment. We lost all of our yard tools last season. Gate and fence the back of your property if you are able to do so. Keep your things secured and out of view when possible.
Ask for ID. Just because somone approached you wearing a reflective vest and hard hat, does not mean they are officials of the company they claim to work for.
Vary your schedule and work from home if you can. Turn music on or TV and vary the lights with timers. Move and shuffle cars around to give the appearance someone is home.
Dogs are a great deterrent as well. We are very happy with our Doberman, who is very sweet and also instinctively knows how to guard, when needed.
Please do not allow someone in your home who you are unfamiliar with or for whom you did not call. My 83 year old mother did this and was completely wiped out the next day, as soon as she left the house.
If you live in an apartment and are concerned about the validity of the individuals, call your apartment manager to verify that they were sent by the management.
As always, if you see people in your neighborhood or apartment complex whom you feel are suspicious, you should call Dallas Police. (Dial 911, this is the phone number for emergency assistance.)
Spread the word about our Website! On July 17, 2010, we launched our new website. We invite you to take a look around the website and tell your friends to come see us too by using our Spread the Word website tool.
PAYPAL and Thank You!
We are getting a lot of interest via paypal and want to take a moment to say thanks for that. Your support means we can pay for more police patrols. We have some wonderful officers, such as Andrew Sommer, Dennis Craig, Roger Rudloff. All are senior officers who are very familiar with our area, who we then hire to patrol during their time off. Shifts are varied to catch the widest array of activity and arrests are made as well.
